We are an SME that launched (2011) a browser-based programme (not an app) for improving English language reading and spelling skills. In 2018, with EU Project funding, we embarked on an Augmented Reality (AR) journey, believing that this emerging technology could provide a significant improvement in literacy attainment outcomes for all students that are underperforming either because of their reading and spelling difficulties or the pedagogy doesn't work for them.The project won “Best Research Project” in the Irish Education Awards 2020.rnrnIn 2020 as part of an EU H2020 Funded Research Project, we are again using our programme to develop an AR 'app' and from our experiences so far, we can see that the introduction of AR technologies and applications will play an essential role in the development of new pedagogies for this sector.
