Antoine Widmer is currently a professor at the information systems research institute of HES-SO Valais. Since 2006 he has been doing research in AR/VR mainly in the medical domain. Until 2012, he first completed MSc (2008) and Ph.D (2012) at the human computer interaction lab at the University of Calgary. After his Ph.D, he came back to Switzerland to work on an applied research project in VR with the swiss company VirtaMed until 2013. In 2013, he joined the information systems research.

The Research Institute of Information Systems of the HES-SO Valais-Wallis is closely related to the Bachelor’s and Master’s degree courses of the same name and specialises in the development of information systems for companies in any industry. The Institute is active in high value-added areas of the local economy such as eHealth, eServices (digitization of services), eGovernment,eEnergy (energy management) or ERP. The Institute of Information Systems oversees the continuing education programmes in information technology.
