Ugo Erra is Assistant Professor at the University of Basilicata (UNIBAS), Italy. Before joining UNIBAS, he has post-doc at the ISISLab of the University of Salerno, Italy. He received an MSc/diploma degree in Computer Science from the University of Salerno, Italy, in 2001 and a Ph.D. in Computer Science in 2004. He is the founder of the Computer Graphics Laboratory at the University of Basilicata. His research focuses on real-time computer graphics, information visualization, and deep learning.

The CG laboratory has acquired over the years several skills, as testified by scientific publications and projects, in Computer Graphics and the development of Virtual and Augmented Reality applications. He was interested in aspects related to Scientific Visualization. It has also developed interface design capabilities based on the Natural User Interface concept. Recently he has acquired skills in the design of artificial intelligence systems and with Machine Learning techniques based on Deep Learning.
