I'm a full-time associate professor at the IDLab research group of Ghent University and imec (Belgium), where I lead the research team IDLab-MEDIA (http://media.idlab.ugent.be), focusing on the representation, compression, and interactive delivery of emerging visual media formats. I have more than 15 years of experiences in the domains of multimedia signal processing, data compression, image/video coding, 3D graphics, and networked multimedia systems.

IDLab-MEDIA is one of the research teams within the research group IDLab from Ghent University and imec.rnrnOur research team focuses on the representation, processing, compression, and interactive delivery of emerging visual media formats. These formats are drastically evolving beyond traditional 2D images or video, such as 360° video, multi-view stereo/3D video, Augmented or Virtual Reality (AR/VR), Light Fields, or holography. Next to the obvious but significant increase in data rates, these formats are posing significant challenges with respect to data dimensionality and interactivity demands.
