Dr. Gianluca Cernigliaro is a Senior R&D Engineer at i2Cat Foundation (Barcelona, Spain). He received his B.S. and M.E. degrees in telecommunication engineering from the Politecnico di and his Postgraduate Master Degree and PhD in Telecommunication Systems and Technologies from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. He joined i2CAT foundation in February 2019 to lead the technical advances in the development of video technologies. He is currently involved in the EU H2020 project VR-Together.
i2CAT is a non-profit technology and innovation center located in Barcelona, Spain, which promotes R+D+i activities in Internet Technologies.rnThe strategic goals of i2CAT are: generating Research and Innovation activities according to the market needs; easing collaboration between companies, public administration, universities and users; enhancing companies’ competitiveness through innovation and technology transfer; standing up for local development through international networking. rni2CAT focuses on technologies as networks, 5G, video technologies and immersive experiences. In particular, the Media Internet Area (MIA), explores new immersive and interactive experiences and develops systems that enable the distribution and consumption of such experiences. Its research activities bring forward the newest formats and experiences, focusing on how to capture, produce, distribute and render them.
